Knowledge of snow elastic properties is crucial for many applications such as avalanche forecasting. Such properties are difficult to measure because of the fragile nature of snow and its variety of microstructure. The reference “measurement” method is thus based on numerical homogenization using 3D tomographic data. However, previous applications of this technique exhibit discrepancies up to a 10-factor. Here, we evaluate the impact of boundary conditions and ice anisotropy.
