We present the TRENT2D❄ model for dense snow avalanche simulations based on the classical Voellmy approach. Thanks to the innovative aspects introduced both from the mathematical (global reference system) and the numerical point of view, the new model is able to tackle accurately any situation, such as vertical or sub-vertical walls, starting-stopping conditions and the absence of motion. A comparison of the results obtained by TRENT2D❄ and RAMMS2D is presented for some test cases.
